Scope and Content
This series contains stubs for certificates of citizenship issued by the court to newly naturalized citizens. The court clerk was responsible for sending the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization in Washington D.C. a duplicate of the certificate, "and to make and keep on file in his office a stub for each certificate so issued by him, whereon shall be entered a memorandum of all the essential facts set forth in such certificate." (Naturalization Act of June 29, 1906, Sec. 12, p. 117 in the Compiled Laws of Utah 1907. Charles S. Tingey, 1908, Salt Lake City.)
The essential facts included both filing information and personal history information on the individual such as number of certificate; name; age; dates issue and filing; name, age, and place of residence of wife; names, ages, and places of residence of minor children; date of order; and signature of holder.
The preprinted stub forms were in volumes issued by the Bureau of Naturalization.The status of stubs kept from 1928 to 1930 is uncertain. After 1930, the stubs were attached to the NATURALIZATION RECORDS. The series was begun when Juab County was in the fifth judicial district; in 1977, the county was moved to the fourth judicial district.

Naturalization record books from the District Court (Fourth District : Juab County), Series 85178, contain the volumes cited for petitions of naturalization and order of admission as a citizen.
Preliminary citizenship examination lists from the District Court (Fourth District : Juab County), Series 85179, contain recommendations on granting or denying citizenship and the subsequent order. If granted, a certificate would be issued and a stub retained by the court.
Declarations of intention record books from the District Court (Fourth District : Juab County), Series 85224, contain the volumes of declarations of intention cited in the stubs, if filed with the Fifth District Court-Juab County.
