Department of Corrections. State Prison Inmate photographs
These records are housed in the Utah State Archives' permanent storage room.
An agency history is available.
Scope and Content
This series consists of inmate photographs. Most of the inmates are from the Utah State Prison with few from the Salt Lake Sheriff's Office, the Box Elder Sheriff's Office and the Ogden City Police. The photographs are separated by crime; therefore, this possibly is a study of some sort. Most photographs state the type of crime, the date of incarceration, date of release, physical appearance of prisoner, and place and date of birth.
Arranged alphabetically by crime thereunder alphabetically by prisoner's last name.
Inmate identification photographs from the Department of Corrections. State Prison, Series 10396, also consist of photographs of prison inmates.
Prison commitment registers from the Department of Corrections. Inmate Services, Series 80388, record personal information about the inmate when first admitted to the prison.
This series is classified as Private: These records are regarded as private for 75 years according to UCA 63G-2-302(2). They contain information about race or national origin and disclosure of this and other personal information may constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy.

At one time this series was merged with series 10396. When processing both series, it was decided they should be two separate series because of original order of each series: The arrangement and time frames are distinctly different. Wendy Checketts processed this series in October 2001.
